Bethany Kane is the Coordinator and PR of Exposure Photography Festival, based in Calgary Alberta Canada. Kane managed the 2020 and 2021 festivals and their extensive exhibition and event programmes that gained over 850,000 visits and attendees. Working with Exposure President and Board Chair Dona Schwartz, Kane co-produced Exposure Studio - a free online educational programme for emerging photographers based in Calgary, speakers included Alec Soth, Rania Matar, Louie Palu, Natasta Caruana and more! Alongside her work for Exposure, Kane currently volunteers her time to the Working Class Creative Database offering support to emerging photographers.  

Previously the Coordinator of FORMAT International Photography Festival, Kane coordinated the UK's largest Photo Festival, working with artists, organizations and professionals worldwide to realize the festival's exhibitions, Photobook Market, Artist Talks, Masterclasses and related events. Kane also managed FORMAT's social media platforms and marketing strategies.

As independent curator and founder of Lost Generation Projects, Kane has worked with over 50 international photographers and her exhibition projects have been supported by University of Derby; Birmingham City University; Bene Culture; Art House Birmingham; Vice Magazine UK and Old Blue Last. Kane received funding from Multistory and Arts Council England to create Lost Generation IIII for the BLAST! Festival 2019. 

Kane has self-published photo books including Hidden Hunger, An Archive of My Father’s Youth: 80’s and 90’s Football Culture and the Lost Generation series, whilst extensively researching and writing about contemporary photo-zine publishing - 'The Female Photo-Zine Publishers Shaking Up the DIY Scene'. Kane has led talks and workshops on photo-zines and photo-zine making for the University of Calgary, Work Show Grow, GRAIN, University of Gloucester, Blast! Photography Festival and more.

Kane has been a portfolio reviewer for ShutterHub's Surgeries, Ort Gallery Birmingham (UK) and Emerging Talents Festival (Rome Italy). Kane has been an invited juror for the YEARBOOK 2020 open call presented by ShutterHub and the AA2A programme at University of Derby.

As a photographer she has exhibited internationally including in the UK Young Artists programme in Milan. Kane has had solo exhibitions at the Midlands Art Centre; Parkside Gallery Birmingham and Coventry Centre of Contemporary Arts.
